Suburban Detroit authorities say an undercover police officer fatally shot a 17-year-old boy who put a gun to his head during a drug investigation.
Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe says his department's narcotics enforcement team was carrying out an undercover investigation about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Cornerstone Village Condominium Complex in Southfield.
McCabe says the teen pulled the gun out and tried to rob one of the undercover officers. McCabe says the officer pulled his own gun and shot the teen, who died soon after.
The undersheriff says the boy was a Southfield resident. His name wasn't immediately released.
McCabe says the officer was uninjured.
