US mail truck kills church-bound Mich. pedestrian

WYOMING, Mich. Authorities in western Michigan say a 77-year-old man crossing a street to attend a Christmas Eve service was struck and killed by a U.S. mail truck.

Police in the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming say the accident happened about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in front of Our Lady of La-Vang Community Parish.

MLive.com says that the man had just parked his car and was crossing the street to attend Mass when the U.S. Postal Service truck hit him.

Wyoming police Capt. Kim Koster says that Louis Van Vo died at the scene. The captain says the truck's driver was unhurt and says an investigation is continuing.
