A Detroit father who claims his 2-year-old daughter was taken during a carjacking has been ordered to stand trial on murder and child abuse charges.
D'Andre Lane was bound over for trial Tuesday during a hearing in Detroit's 36th District Court and a court date was set for June 5. Bianca Jones disappeared Dec. 2 and hasn't been found.
Defense attorney Terry Johnson says prosecutors have no evidence against Lane, and their "case is based on the argument that he spanked her."
Prosecutors accuse him of beating Bianca to death with a stick with a towel wrapped in duct tape, and disposing of her body.
Lane has insisted that Bianca was abducted during the December carjacking. The vehicle was found but not Bianca.
