A Lansing area man will stand trial in the stabbing death of a 23-year-old Michigan State University senior at an off-campus apartment.

The Lansing State Journal reports that Connor McCowan was bound over Thursday following a preliminary examination in a Mason courtroom.

McCowan is charged with murder in the Feb. 23 slaying at the door of Andrew Singler's Meridian Township apartment.

Tyler Aho testified that his roommate was stabbed in the chest during a fight with McCowan of nearby Okemos. Aho said Singler was intoxicated and punched McCowan before he was stabbed.

McCowan was 18 at the time of the stabbing.

Court records say the fight stemmed from an argument between Singler and McCowan's sister. Singler grew up in the Detroit suburb of Rochester.
