Trash in Lake Michigan to be studied

Researchers will be combing Lake Michigan this weekend to find out how trash is affecting the eco-system.

The researchers from the Alliance for the Great Lakes will sample the water from Chicago, all the way across the lake to Berrien County.

They're specifically looking to find out what impact plastic trash has on the water.

According to our reporting partners at WSJM radio, it's just one of the many lake studies that will be done this summer.

Alliance will also study other parts of Lake Michigan, and Lake Ontario.
