Authorities in western Michigan say they've pulled a man's body from his car that was submerged in the Grand River.

The Grand Haven Tribune, Holland Sentinel and Mlive.com report that a canoeist saw the car on Christmas Day.

The Ottawa County sheriff's department says divers recovered the body of 29-year-old Lawrence Stearns of Grand Haven Township. He was last seen on Christmas Eve when he left to check trap lines he maintained in the river.

The body was found in Polkton Township, about 10 miles east of Grand Haven.
