Cass County Sheriff Department uncovered 450 pounds of marijuana and a handgun during a traffic stop at M-40 and Marcellus Highway in Marcellus, MI on Tuesday, July 12th.
A Sheriff's deputy saw a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck committing a traffic violation. The deputy stopped the truck and found a handgun. After investigating further, the deputy found large amounts of marijuana in the vehicle.
15 large bales were located and inside each bale were numerous bricks of packaged marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana was 450 pounds with a street value of $720,000.
The passenger, 22-year-old Hector Manual Diaz-Batista, was arrested on several drug delivery and possession charges.
The driver of the car, 43-year-old Rolando Diaz-Aybar, was arrested on multiple weapons and drug charges.
Both are being held on $500,000 cash bond.
