DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Historical Society has obtained original lettering from the former Tiger Stadium and will put it on display.

The large letters spelling out the stadium's name will be installed inside the new Allesee Gallery of Culture at the Detroit Historical Museum during a media tour Tuesday of the museum, which is undergoing renovation.

Tiger Stadium opened in 1912 as Navin Field. The Tigers left for Comerica Park after the 1999 season. The last portion of Tiger Stadium was demolished in 2009.

The Detroit Historical Museum is scheduled to reopen Nov. 23.
