New Buffalo, Mich. A popular New Buffalo restaurant destroyed by fire is rising from the rubble.
Nearly one year later, The Stray Dog Bar and Grill will soon be back open for the summer.
Last July, flames tore through the restaurant, which is located near the city's harbor.
The blaze was later blamed on an electrical problem.
Everyone escaped safely but the building was a total loss.
The restaurant's owners have been working hard to get it back up and running ever since.
After months of rebuilding, The Stray Dog has found new life on the same site along North Whittaker Street.
On Tuesday, the eatery invited more than 200 people to stop by for a practice run-through before the big reopening on Thursday.
Volunteer firefighters enjoyed a delicious lunch in the new building, with city administrators -- including the mayor -- expected tonight for dinner.
It's a way for the stray dog staff to give back to a community that's shown them so much support.
