DETROIT (AP) - Michigan residents in a federal food program are reporting problems with their debit-style cards.

A spokesman for the state Department of Human Services says it appears to be a problem Saturday between retailers and the company that provides high-tech services. David Akerly says the glitch extends beyond Michigan.

He had no other details. The federal program is commonly known as food stamps, although transactions are performed electronically.
