BENTON HARBOR Benton Harbor's suspended Director of Public Safety wants his job back.

Roger Lange passed his firefighter training exams this weekend. He was suspended in July of last year because he hadn't taken the exams. The Herald Palladium reports that he hasn't been paid since October.

Lange claims he was suspended for complaining to state officials about former emergency manager Tony Saunders. Lange said Saunders made racist remarks against two police officers. Saunders says Lange was suspended because the firefighter certifications are required for public safety directors.
