Students donate whole hog to local soup kitchen

A group of Berrien County students have used their knowledge and time on the farm to raise animals that will benefit the hungry.

The Countryside Academy Future Farmers of America delivered 200 pounds of pork to Benton Harbor’s soup kitchen earlier today.

The F.F.A group received a grant that helped them raise the swine from start to finish. They then had to donate one hog to a local organization.

Carly Harris, President of Countryside Academy’s F.F.A said “it makes us feel really good.” She said the group spent long hours on the hard project, but the reward was worth it.

Countryside F.F.A said they wanted to help local veterans, so when choosing an organization they wanted one that helped those who have served.
