Attorneys claim a man who was released from prison this week has returned to a Detroit neighborhood to hunt for witnesses whose testimony led to two murder convictions in 2007.
Dwayne Ballinger was granted bond Monday by a federal judge,
months after his convictions were overturned because of an ineffective trial lawyer. But the attorney general's office is urging the judge to lock up Ballinger after hearing allegations that he is seeking revenge.
Ballinger's attorney denies it. Federal Judge Arthur Tarnow will hear arguments Thursday.
Meanwhile, the attorney general's office is appealing the decision to overturn Ballinger's murder convictions.
