Some Michigan roads are closed due to flooding as more rain falls on the state and severe thunderstorms are in the forecast.

Flooding on Thursday closed parts of southbound U.S. Highway 131 near the Ottawa County community of Wayland. U.S. 31 was closed in both directions at M-40. And MLive.com reports a bridge over the Thornapple River in the Cutlerville area of Kent County was washed out.

Newaygo County this week declared a state of emergency for its portion of the Muskegon River. WOOD-TV reports Richard Baker was rescued by front-end loader from his home in Cedar Creek Township after rising floodwaters from the river left him stranded.

Problems also are reported on roads in Allegan, Berrien and Ionia counties.
