Gov. Rick Snyder has ordered U.S. flags lowered at state buildings around Michigan to honor a firefighter killed battling a blaze in suburban Detroit.
Twenty-nine-year-old Westland firefighter Brian Woehlke was killed Wednesday in a fire at a strip mall in the western Detroit suburb.
Snyder said in a statement Sunday that Woehlke "is an example of the brave men and women" who protect Michigan communities every day.
Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Wayne. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Divine Child in Dearborn.
