Ski into the 2013 at Swiss Valley

For those wishing to ring in the New Year in a more adventurous or active way, a trip to Swiss Valley might be the perfect option.

The ski slopes at Swiss Valley are open with the fresh snow after ski season was delayed due to mild weather. When temperatures dropped last week crews worked around the clock to make extra snow to cover the hills with.

More than one thousand people showed up Sunday to make their first runs down the slopes when Swiss Valley officially opened for the season.

James Wiseman, the owner of Swiss Valley, says he hopes Sunday is a sign of the season to come, “I’m hoping we continue with this without a January thaw. And we'll just keep making snow every single night we can we start up after everyone goes home a crew comes in until 10 and then run until 8 in the morning, and we'll just keep doing that.”

There will be a special New Year’s Eve event at Swiss Valley Monday night, the slopes will re-open at 7 p.m. and remain open until 1 a.m. with live entertainment as people ski and snowboard their way into 2013.
