CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich.--- Police in suburban Detroit say a man was killed while shopping with his wife at a home improvement store when a pallet of ceramic tiles fell off a shelf and hit him on the head.

Police tell WDIV-TV that a forklift had just finished putting the pallet on the shelves and saw it start to tip. Police say the operator shouted a warning, but the man didn't hear it.

Police say the accident happened Saturday morning at a Menards store in Macomb County's Chesterfield Township. It's about 20 miles northeast of Detroit.

They identify the victim as 38-year-old Richard V. Colletti of Clinton Township. They say his wife was unhurt.
