Authorities say they have recovered the body of a 39-year-old man who was trying to save a girl who also died after falling from a boat in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula.

Roscommon County Sheriff Randy Stevenson says the department's dive team working Wednesday morning in Houghton Lake recovered the body of Greg Rochon of Markey Township. He drowned Monday and the 3-year-old girl was pulled from the water later that day and pronounced dead.

Stevenson says the team worked through the night using side-scan sonar to locate Rochon. Strong winds forced the team to suspend the search for several hours Tuesday.

Authorities say the girl was being held over the water to urinate when a wave hit the pontoon boat and she fell in. Another man and child were rescued.
