ACME TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) Authorities say the snow, ice and cold gripping Michigan are involved in at least two traffic deaths.

Scattered snow was falling in Michigan on Wednesday night, with 8 p.m. EST temperatures ranging from minus 8 at Ironwood in the western Upper Peninsula to 19 at Lambertville in Michigan's southeastern corner.

The Grand Traverse County sheriff's department tells the Traverse City Record-Eagle that a 36-year-old Traverse City man died when his pickup struck a heavy-equipment truck Tuesday evening in Acme Township. His name wasn't immediately released.

MLive.com says an 81-year-old Farwell man died in a two-vehicle crash in Clare County's Surrey Township Tuesday afternoon. His name also wasn't immediately released.

Snow caused a 30-vehicle pileup Tuesday afternoon that closed U.S. 131 north of Grand Rapids. No serious injuries were reported.
