Police arrested a teenage boy this past week for allegedly vandalizing a Dowagiac cemetery, now officials have arrested a second suspect in connection to the damge.

Marcellus resident Clayton Warren, 23, was arraigned today on several charges including one for the “malicious destruction of tombs and memorials.”

Because Warren was charged as a habitual offender, the Court has the ability double the maximum penalty for the vandalism.

Earlier this week Enos Butrick III, 19, was also arrested for his alleged involvement, the teen confessed to vandalizing both the cemetery as well as the Elks Golf Course last month. Butrick is facing five separate charges in relation to both incidents.

In total police say 61 headstones were damaged and tipped over throughout Riverside Cemetery sometime between late Sunday night and early Monday morning. The damage is estimated at over 16,000 dollars.

Both Warren and Butrick are being held on 20,000 dollars bond. Butrick is scheduled to appear in court next Wednesday, and Warren is set to return for his hearing on December 27.
