SAUGATUCK, Mich. A scuba diver has been rescued after his breathing equipment failed 100 feet below the surface of Lake Michigan.

The Coast Guard says a crew was able to get the man breathing again when he was pulled onto a boat Saturday but he still was unconscious at the time.

Seaman Lawrence Matthew tells The Grand Rapids Press that the diver was taken to an ambulance waiting on shore in Saugatuck in Allegan County and then transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. It has a hyperbaric pressure chamber for treating diving injuries.

The diver's name and condition weren't released.
