Reward offered after Detroit dog found dead, roped

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information in the death of an adult pit bull terrier found dead on Detroit's northwest side with rope around her neck and lettering spray-painted on her body.

Michigan Humane Society spokesman Kevin Hatman tells The Detroit News authorities have been investigating since a neighbor discovered the animal on July 17.

Hatman says the dog had rope tied tightly around its neck, with no other discernible injuries. The letters "PBS" were spray-painted in white on the dog's left side, with other markings painted on its back, sides and legs.

A necropsy is expected to determine the cause of death.
