BENTON HARBOR A man accused of murdering the mother of his child has pleaded guilty and will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Isaiah Casnave entered the guilty plea Wednesday, one day before trial was scheduled to begin in Benton Harbor.

Casnave admitted shooting and killing 24-year-old Tenita Broyles last April. She had broken up with him a few months earlier and had a personal protection order against him.
Witnesses to the crime say Casnave kicked in the locked door of her home, fired the fatal shots, and fled the scene. He was eventually found hiding in the trunk of a car in Benton Harbor.

Broyles had two other children.

As part of a plea deal, a rape charge against Casnave was dropped. The Herald Palladium reports that Casnave will be sentenced March 24th.
