ROSCOMMON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) Roscommon County prosecutors are reviewing the fatal shooting of a 75-year-old man during a standoff with police in northern Lower Michigan.
State police Lt. John Card said Friday that prosecutors are getting information from detectives investigating the shooting early Thursday outside a Roscommon Township home. The routine review seeks to determine whether the shooting is justified.
Card says sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a felonious assault, and deputies got two people out of the house.
The man came out later and pointed a handgun at police. He was instructed to put down the weapon and get down, but Card says he didn't.
Card says shots were fired, and the man went back in the house, where he was found dead.
The man's name hasn't been released.
