Police raid turns up drugs, python, alligator

DETROIT A man is facing charges after a police raid found a kilogram of cocaine, several thousand dollars in cash, two pit bulls, a python and a small alligator in a Detroit home.

The Wayne County sheriff's office says in a release that deputies and federal agents executed a search warrant on the house in southwest Detroit Friday morning.

Dozens of pairs of gym shoes, small appliances, hardware tools, three motorcycle scooters also were recovered. Police believe the items were stolen. Suspected marijuana and heroin also were found inside the house.

The animals have been turned over to the Michigan Humane Society.
