BELDING, Mich. Police say the death of a 10-year-old western Michigan boy who disappeared this weekend after going fishing has been ruled an accidental drowning.

The Grand Rapids Press reports Belding police Chief Dale Nelson on Tuesday released preliminary results from an autopsy of Devon Morrison.

Searchers on Monday found his body near the Ashfield Street bridge in Belding, about 25 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.

The boy was last seen Saturday as he headed for the Flat River from his nearby home with a fishing pole. He was a fifth-grader at Woodview Elementary School.

His disappearance prompted an extensive search. Police have said Devon would regularly fish alone at the river.
