Police say they now believe that damage to a car driving on a southeastern Michigan expressway is unrelated to a string of two-dozen shootings that has frightened motorists on and near a hundred-mile stretch of highway.

Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw in Brighton says that some type of "projectile" likely hit the car of a woman driving Monday on U.S. 23 near Interstate 96,

The woman wasn't hurt.

Police say two weekend shootings are linked to the spree of at least 24 reports of gunfire near Interstate 96.

So far, the only wounded person is 46-year-old Scott Arnold. He was driving to the World Series in Detroit on Saturday when a bullet hit him.

He's now out of the hospital.
