The pilot of a small, home-built helicopter has suffered minor injuries following a crash near a
private airstrip in Jackson County.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Tony Molinaro says damage to the helicopter is "substantial" from Friday morning's crash in Napoleon Township.
Township police tell the Jackson Citizen Patriot that the female pilot was the only person aboard the helicopter. She was taken to an area hospital.
The FAA did not release the name of the pilot.
Molinaro says the Rhino 2 model craft is owned by Richard DeGraw of Jackson County. The helicopter crashed near his property.
Napoleon Township is about 60 miles west of Detroit.
