Fire officials are investigating two separate fires in Detroit that claimed three lives, including a child.
A child was killed Tuesday afternoon in a house fire on the city's northeast side. And a 67-year-old man and his 42-year-old stepson were killed Monday morning in a house fire on Detroit's west side.
The Detroit Free Press says Monday's fire started in the living room but no cause has been determined. Arson and homicide investigators are investigating.
Bobby Cross and stepson Darryl Simms were rushed to Detroit Receiving hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Authorities say they suffered from smoke inhalation.
Friends and family say that Simms had trouble walking after a stroke about a year ago and moved in with Cross.
