LAKE ORION, Mich. (AP) - An Oakland County couple have been named the state of Michigan's foster parents of the year.
Judy Wright and John Wright of Lake Orion will be honored in Lansing on Nov. 9. They were nominated for their commitment to caring for children with special medical needs and reuniting birth parents with children.
The Wrights will be honored along with others in the foster care field. They are state foster care worker Matt Miller of Emmet County, lawyers Ginny Mikita of Rockford and John Ceci of Livingston County and Cass County Judge Susan Dobrich.
The Foster Care Review Board says the annual awards are for people who do "exceptional work" for neglected children and their families.
