For the past 25 years, people all around Michiana have spent several weeks near St. Patrick’s Day supporting green foam noses.
In 1988, the Logan Center came up with the idea to sell the noses as a way to raise money and awareness for Michiana residents with disabilities. It’s an effort known as The Great Logan Nose-On Campaign.
The great Logan Nose-On kicked off Saturday morning. This is the 25th year these green balls have been used to raise awareness for people with disabilities. There's even special ice cream involved.
Mint chocolate chip ice cream has been chosen to go along with the green theme. Organizers say it's amazing to see the campaign grow each year.
”When you think about 25 years ago the concept of the green nose was to help bring awareness, celebrate people with disabilities, but also a way for the community to help us,” says Clint Bolser the President and CEO of the Logan Center.
You can buy a green nose at any of the Wal-Mart’s in our area and show your support.
