National Weather Service warns spring time weather changes could cause sudden flooding

Despite the freezing weather that has taken over the area, the National Weather Service says it wants homeowners to start thinking about and preparing for possible flooding.

This week marks the National Weather Service’s National Flood Safety Awareness Week. The organization warns that temperatures can change quickly during the spring months. Any sudden warm ups or extra rain can cause snow to melt and result in sudden flooding.

The National Weather Service says flooding can happen at any time during the year, caused by a variety of different weather changes. It has compiled a list of all the different types of flood-causing weather patterns on its website in addition to other flood-related statistics.
