The Detroit Police Department has released the names of two officers wounded during a shootout that left a parolee dead.

Police say Tuesday night in a release that Officer Patrick Hill remains hospitalized from the April 2 gun battle. Sgt. Jeffrey Pacholski was released from a hospital several days ago.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Matthew R. Joseph died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Joseph was a suspect in a homicide committed last month. The April 2 shooting followed a short car chase involving members of an anti-crime task force. Pacholski and Hill are members of that task force.

State Corrections records show Joseph was sentenced on May 22, 2007 to up to 15 years in prison for a 2006 armed robbery. He was paroled on Oct. 2, 2012.
