WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - The suburban Detroit police officer who was fatally shot has been identified as Pat O'Rourke.
O'Rourke, a father of four, was killed Sunday night at a home in West Bloomfield Township where police had responded to a call about a man in trouble.
In a memo from a department official, West Bloomfield officers have been told that a "scene can turn in unexpected ways," despite the best training and preparation. West Bloomfield is an upper middle class suburb in Oakland County.
Lt. Timothy Diamond says the gunman was involved in a divorce.
