A Muskegon defense lawyer who previously had his law license suspended following a conviction for crack cocaine is facing a new drug-related charge.

Fifty-five-year-old Terry Nolan was arraigned Thursday in Holland District Court on a charge of unlawful use of a controlled substance.

The Muskegon County prosecutor's office tells MLive.com says he faces an enhanced penalty of up to two years in prison because of his previous drug conviction.

The Associated Press left a message seeking comment on Nolan's behalf.

Matthew R. Kacel says in a statement on behalf of Nolan's law firm that it's "shocked and deeply saddened" by Nolan's arrest. The firm says it plans to stay open.

A cocaine bust a decade ago cost Nolan his law license, which he regained in 2009.
