A Westland mom is asking for the public's help to locate her missing 18-year-old son and his friend, after the car they were driving was found abandoned in Detroit.

Virgie Kudla tells The Detroit News that she last heard from her son, Jacob, about 10 p.m. Sunday when he and 17-year-old Jourdan Bobbishd were heading to a relative's home on Detroit's east side.

Kudla filed a missing persons report in Westland. Detroit Police have impounded the 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier that was found Monday with its sound system removed.

Virgie Kudla says authorities told her two people were arrested in connection with items taken from the vehicle. Detroit Police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens couldn't confirm the arrests.

Jacob Kudla is a Schoolcraft College student. Bobbish attends Livonia's Churchill High School.
