The mother of a mentally ill Saginaw man who was shot 11 times by police has thanked the community for support and criticized authorities for taking no action against the officers.
Jewel Hall traveled from Rio Rancho, N.M., to speak Saturday at a Seventh-day Adventist Church in Saginaw. She says her son, Milton Hall, was the victim of "barbaric" and "extremely cruel" behavior.
He was fatally shot in a Saginaw parking lot on July 1 after officers demanded he drop a knife. Prosecutor Michael Thomas says Hall was a threat. No charges will be filed.
Jewel Hall, a former Saginaw teacher, says the federal government is conducting a separate investigation. The Saginaw News (bit.ly/SPfTZh) says she thanked the church crowd for honoring her son and urged people to demand justice.
