ATTICA TOWNSHIP, Mich. Officials say a 1-year-old Michigan girl died after being struck by a falling television over the weekend.

According to Lapeer County sheriff's Sgt. Jason Parks, another child apparently was opening up a dresser the TV was on when the dresser and TV fell over.

Parks says the girl was standing in front of the 32-inch, 69-pound television and was hit in the head when it fell. He says the mother was in a bedroom next door, and the children were out of her sight for a short period.

The girl was struck Saturday at the home in Attica Township, 45 miles north of Detroit.
