LANSING, Mich. Michigan lawmakers are seeking to use technology to help military veterans find jobs.

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs budget passed by the House this week includes $1.5 million to integrate Michigan's job-search website into the platform for Hero 2 Hired, a website that helps veterans translate military skills and jobs into civilian jobs.

Republican Rep. Greg MacMaster of Kewadin says in a statement that integrating the two programs will also allow employers to easily find qualified candidates among military veterans. Lawmakers say military skills and acronyms can be confusing for employers, causing veterans to miss out on job opportunities.

The Senate is expected to vote on the budget next week.
