One of the tastiest fundraisers of the year is underway now that dishes have been unveiled and voting has begun for the “Greatest Chef in Michiana” competition.
The Michiana Family Y.M.C.A revealed the dishes competing in the third annual cooking competition on Friday morning.
Chefs from 10 of the top restaurants in the area have paired up with local business leaders and celebrities for the campaign. Together, each team has concocted a new and delicious dish that the public will get to sample throughout the month of February at participating restaurants.
It is a chance to eat good food, and support an even better cause.
“Actually this year this fundraiser is going to make this year we hope up to $200,000 based on the generosity of our community and the outreach the celebrities and chefs are going to put out there,” said Pat Flynn, President of Indiana Beer, Inc.
The reigning champion, Sean Kelley says he is looking two win this back-to-back year.
Besides testing his culinary capabilities, Kelley, who is a chef at Temper Grille, says the competition makes it fun, “There's always a little competition off the camera with a few other chefs that we always do, and needless to say they still owe me from last year.”
The public is invited to sample the entries for the rest of the month and then vote for their favorite meal online.
It costs $34 to cast a vote, the proceeds from which will go to support scholarships at the YMCA gala event later this month.
