Man charged with assaulting girl over 16-years

A 73-year-old mid-Michigan man has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl over a 16-year period and creating and possessing pornographic images of the victim.

Robert Potts of Midland County was arraigned Thursday and faces charges including three counts each of first-degree criminal sexual conduct against someone under 13 and producing or making child sexually abusive material. He also faces a single count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct by force or coercion, and five counts of possessing child sexually abusive material.

A not guilty plea was entered on Potts' behalf. He remains jailed on a $1.2 million bond.

Saginaw County Sheriff's Det. David Kerns tells MLive.com the victim is "developmentally disabled" and was 9 years old when the assaults began.

Kerns says seized evidence indicates "there are other victims."
