An 18-year-old man has been charged in the sexual assault and robbery of an 87-year-old Flint woman who was attacked while returning home from the grocery store last fall.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said Tuesday that Denzel Berry of Flint is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, home invasion, unarmed robbery and assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
Leyton says Berry attacked the victim from behind and knocked her to the ground Oct. 15, 2012, while trying to enter the rear of her home. Leyton says Berry took money from her purse and stole jewelry from her home.
Berry is expected to be arraigned in 68th District Court. He doesn't have a listed phone number, and it's unclear if he has a lawyer.
