ST. JOSEPH, Mich. A 49-year-old man was taken into custody Friday after police say he tried to rob two Berrien County convenience stores.

Police say the suspect was denied money in the first attempted robbery at the Pri-Mart Quick Shop in the 2000 block of Washington Avenue in St. Joseph.

He then tried to rob the Ago station at Niles and Napier, but left after the clerk never came to the counter.

The man was eventually taken into custody by Benton Township police, and is facing charges of attempted robbery.
