MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. A 69-year-old man accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife of 27 years has pleaded no-contest to a murder solicitation charge and received a prison sentence of four years, three months to 20 years.
In May, Charles Tringali of Roseville withdrew a plea deal in Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens. He requested the deal be reinstated, and Judge Peter Maceroni did so Tuesday.
Police say they got a tip that Tringali wanted his wife killed. They say Tringali met an undercover detective and discussed details for the killing.
Defense lawyer Stevens Freers has said his client never planned to go ahead with the killing.
A no-contest plea isn't an admission of guilt but lets a court find the defendant guilty and impose sentence.
