GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A 20-year-old man has been denied bond in the death of his 2-year-old daughter.
MLive.com reports that DeShawn Threats of Grand Rapids was arraigned Friday on felony murder in the death of Zaeyana Driggs-Threats.
Police responded Wednesday to a report the girl was having trouble breathing, and found her dead. They say she died of blunt force trauma.
Effie Threats tells MLive.com that DeShawn Threats, her grandson, called her Wednesday night and said he didn't hurt the girl.
An Aug. 30 hearing has been set for DeShawn Threats.
The family held a vigil Thursday night at the home where Zaeyana was found.
Court records show that the child's mother had sought a restraining order June 12 against Threats and it was signed by a judge, but never served to him.
