Authorities on Mackinac Island say a 51-year-old resident was killed when she lost control of her snowmobile and struck a tree.
MLive.com says island police identify the victim as Rebecca Mentzer. They say the crash happened about 5:45 p.m. Monday on the west side of the resort island, which lies in the straits between Michigan's Upper and Lower peninsulas.
Police say Mentzer had a passenger, who was thrown from the snowmobile but was uninjured.
