A Livingston County couple married 37 years are getting into the jerky business.
Phil and Margo Tolliver opened Lost Creek Jerky three months ago
in Genoa Township.
The Tollivers cook, cut and package beef, chicken, venison and
buffalo jerky by hand.
Phil Tolliver tells the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of
Howell the business is a "one-man-and-his-wife operation."
Lost Creek Jerky's beef comes from Detroit's Eastern Market and
is cooked in a 500-pound oven. It's then refrigerated at the Genoa
Township location. The product is cut and sealed in a separate
room.
Phil Tolliver learned the business from his son, who ran True
North Beef Jerky in Chelsea for seven years.
The business' namesake is a creek in Bismarck, Mo., where Phil
Tolliver spent part of his youth.
