BENTON TOWNSHIP Lake Michigan College’s energy production program has earned nuclear accreditation.
The Herald Palladium reports that the program has been named a Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP). That distinction allows students with high test scores to skip 10 to 12 weeks of training and get right into the real world.
The school already works with the Cook Nuclear Plant and is hoping to strike a similar deal with the Palisades Nuclear Plant, now that they have this certification.
The nuclear energy program first started in 2008.
