BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) - Kellogg Co. plans to open a regional service center in Grand Rapids as part of the cereal maker's restructuring.
The Battle Creek Enquirer and The Grand Rapids Press report Thursday that Kellogg said the North America service center will open later this year and have 300 to 600 workers by 2016.
Kellogg president and chief executive John Bryant tells the Enquirer that "there probably will be some job losses in Battle Creek" where the company is based. About 2,000 Kellogg employees work in Battle Creek.
Bryant says the company will maintain its corporate headquarters, research and development and production facilities in Battle Creek.
The company's restructuring program is expected to cut Kellogg's global workforce by 7 percent as it consolidates plants and production lines.
