BENTON HARBOR One house, two fires. The bizarre house fire has police questioning whether the blaze was set on purpose.

The Herald Palladium reports that a home in the 700 block of High Street in Benton Harbor went up in flames Tuesday morning.

Darnell Mendenhall was sleeping inside was woken by a neighbor knocking, but not before his hair was singed by the blaze.

The home was destroyed by two separate fires -- one at the front door, one at the back.

Investigators say there was no natural cause, like an electric problem or appliance malfunction. They can't say for sure that the blaze was arson, but they say it's definitely not normal.

Crews were on the scene for five hours trying to put out the flames, which flared up again later in the afternoon.
